International Chinese Fine Arts Council (ICFAC) will be hosting a Zoom webinar “Dim Sum Dialogues: Addressing the Impact of COVID-19 Racism in the Creative Community” with Dee Kerrison, Art Collector and Social Activist, Eboni Gates, Head of VIP Relations and Strategic Initiatives at EXPO CHICAGO, Karen Tam, Artist, Mel Chin, Artist, Phil Chan, Co-founder of Final Bow for Yellowface and Teresa Mah, Illinois State Representative, moderated by Inez Suen, ICFAC Director.
The COVID-19 pandemic has made clear that the fear of contracting disease has increased racism and discrimination against Asian – along with Black and Latinx – communities have followed closely behind.
Furthermore, the details of the pandemic’s impact has brought to light the striking wider economic disparities in various industries. Among those made vulnerable are members of the creative community – whose livelihoods are threatened by the disappearance of the gig and performance economy.
In consideration of these issues, the International Chinese Fine Arts Council (ICFAC) calls for visibility, conversation, and unity, by facilitating a platform for social exchange. Join us in our Dim Sum Dialogues — panel discussions covering valuable knowledge, experience, and insight, led by members of the creative community. The first event’s topic will cover what has been pertinent during this global pandemic: Addressing the Impact of COVID-19 Racism in the Creative Community.
